Trench coat by junya watanabe comme des garcons, from spring 2006. Made from beige cotton drill, it has many of the conventional details of a trench coat (double breasted front, epaulets, etc), but nearly everything is distorted or reconfigured. For example, although you can see evidence of a double-breasted placket, functionally it's an open coat that can't be fastened (the back of the coat has been cinched in drastically). Similarly, while there are epaulets, they're closer to the elbow than at the shoulder. The lining (a sheeny purple check) is a striking contrast with the matte beige outer fabric.
